First things first. After seven plus years here at Hoppy, Ms. Danielle McAdoo has decided it was finally time to start work on her career objectives and is leaving us. Thank you Ms. McAdoo for your time and service here at Hoppy, and we wish you the best of luck with your future career objectives! Your time here was valued and you will be sincerely missed! Taking Danielle’s place behind the bar as manager is still a work in progress, but until that is determined Mrs. Jonalin Welsh will be assuming her duties. Feel free to send her an email at mailto:jonalin@hoppy.com with any input you may have for the bar.

In addition, other exciting changes here at Hoppy are Mrs. Nicole Gazeta has been promoted to the new Executive Chef position, and Mrs. Jonalin Welsh has been promoted to the General Manager position; so look for even more exciting food coming out of the kitchen and some fresh new faces behind the bar…

Now back to our regularly scheduled program. With the holiday season quickly approaching, we wanted to share with you some of the upcoming December highlights we have in the works. Also, if you have been procrastinating on booking your holiday party, our space is filling up, so call Mr. Conor Tekautz conor@hoppy.com at 916.451.4677 to make your reservations now and plan to have your holiday event at Hoppy.

As usual, this coming Saturday, being the first Saturday morning of the month, Rusty in the Shade make their monthly appearance. Rusty will be playing from 11:00am until 1:00pm with their brand of original acoustic bluegrass, so toss on some clothes, show up, and grab some grub & suds while kicking back listening to Rusty do their thing…

In addition, the 32nd annual California International Marathon (CIM) is coming this Sunday morning December 07th, and just as Hoppy did with those who participated in the annual “Run to Feed the Hungry” on Thanksgiving morning, just bring in your BIB after the run and exchange it for a yummy pint of Hoppy.

Also, if you are at an event out at Sleep Train Arena, make sure to stop by the California Craftbeer Kiosk (Section 106) and grab a 20oz Hoppy Face™ Amber or a Liquid Sunshine™ Blonde on tap for just $10.75. While you are there, make sure they give you a $3 discount coupon with your purchase, which is good for any appetizer here at Hoppy anytime. However, if you happen to remember – our Hoppy Hour appetizers start at $3. We will let you do the math on that one… 😉

In other local news, the month of December is full of holiday-related activities. Therefore, the event scene slows way down this month. However, you will see Hoppy at a few events away from our restaurant/brewery, but we are busy preparing for next years Crab Feeds and already scheduling the Spring Events!

TLCS

Thursday, December 04th, Hoppy is proud to be the exclusive beer sponsor as TLCS presents: Stand Up Sacramento at the beautiful Crest Theater. There will be a VIP reception and silent auction beginning at 5:30pm, while the General Admission doors open at 7:00pm. The comedy showcase is from 7:30-9:00pm. These are all popular local comics donating their talent to this fabulous fundraiser.

TLCS, Inc. is a private, non-profit psychosocial rehabilitation agency located here in Sacramento. TLCS began its journey in 1981 when three determined community members joined together to pursue one common goal: to provide housing, living skills training, community support, entitlement advocacy and outreach. Today, TLCS has more than 100 dedicated employees who work to build stronger communities by offering support, treatment, and opportunities to individuals who are affected by mental and emotional illnesses. Their supportive services, such as case management, entitlement advocacy, and life skills development are tailored individually to the needs of the clients we serve. Our clients are educated on how to lead responsible, productive, and self-directed lives by focusing on their strengths. At TLCS, we believe that individuals with psychiatric disabilities can and do recover through our effective and culturally motivating services. They rely on generosity from corporations, foundations and individuals in the community to help them provide support services for nearly 1,500 clients annually. TLCS strives to create hope for our clients and community, so after recovery they can actively contribute to society. All donations are graciously accepted and go directly towards funding their client-support programs. http://tlcssac.org/

Also on the 04th, The Retirement Dinner of our local City Councilman Steve Cohn, who has graciously made this party into a fundraiser for our friends at Stanford Settlement, benefitting the Teen Center and Youth Programs. The reception is at 5:30pm and the program starts at 6:15pm. The event is being held at the Clunie Communtiy Center – Grand Hall, 601 Alhambra Blvd. East Sacramento

MakeAWish

Saturday, December 06th, Hoppy is proud to sponsor a grand event for the Make-a-Wish Foundation Holiday Home Tour at Los Lagos from 4:00-9:00pm. Hoppy has been chosen to be served at the Crabbe home in this beautiful and luxurious gated Granite Bay Community. There are 6-8 homes on the tour including Eddie Murphy’s former home (purple tile and all). Shuttles will take the guests between each of the homes and you will be greeted with food, beer, wine and music to enhance your experience as you tour some of the most exclusive homes of the area.

Wishes are more than just a nice thing. A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a life-threatening medical condition. This one belief guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve. It compels us to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish kid. It drives us to make our donated resources go as far as possible. Most of all, it is the founding principle of our vision to grant the wish of every eligible child. Wishes are more than just a nice thing, and they are far more than just gifts, or singular events in time. Wishes impact everyone involved – wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities. The impact varies. For wish kids, just the act of making their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Parents might finally feel they can be optimistic. And still others might realize all they have to offer the world through volunteer work or philanthropy. Whatever the odds, whatever the obstacles…wishes find a way to make the world better.

Also on the 06th, TUBE Magazine presents The Market. The Market will celebrate local artists, crafters and makers. This is a free, non profit event taking place Saturday, from 12-3:30pm at the Sierra 2 Center located in Curtis Park. Jewelry, Fine Art, Pottery, Hand Carved Wooden Bowls, Paintings, Teas, Clothing, Local Music, Photography and other crafty bits will all be on display and available for purchase by local artisans for the afternoon. They will have some of Sacramento’s finest local musicians for entertainment. FREE! http://www.TUBEmag.com

CCHAT is state certified as a nonpublic school and is one of two auditory/oral programs serving deaf children in Northern California. Children attending CCHAT utilize a variety of amplification systems including hearing aids, cochlear implants and personal FM systems. Through a program of individualized language therapy and a creative and imaginative curriculum, children develop competency in communication, social, and academic skills. With these skills they can actively participate in their local schools and within the community at large.

The other Brewer Special that is on tap during the month is the BIG SWINGIN’ D’IPA: This is a “manly” pale ale (see – we didn’t use the ubiquitous term “india”) for the winter months. It is hopped with Citra, Columbus, Glacier, and Mt Hood. As Ed in the brewery put it, “From one man to another, man up and manhandle a man’s man’s IPA. Alcohol by Volume is 7.6% and it has 80 IBUs.

Hopefully that will be enough to satiate your news appetite until our “regular” bimonthly newsletter comes out next month. However, if it is not, then feel free to visit our website below, and check out some radio and tube advertising, along with some fun games that Mr. Chris Baerwaldt has compiled for your enjoyment – even if some of it is not politically correct.

Remember…the craft brew industry is very competitive, and we can always use your help when you are out there in the bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and etc. How can you help us you may be asking yourself??? Well…ask your local retailer(s) for our products (to the point of bugging them if necessary), so that you are able to buy the products that you “really” want – not just what is on the store shelf, or on-tap, at the moment…
You, the consumer, have more power than you may know. Speak up, speak clearly, and your earnest taste buds may reap those proactive rewards. If you do this, then we are sure it will not be long before you will be able to enjoy our Liquid Sunshine™ Blonde, Hoppy Face™ Amber, Stony Face™ Red, and Total Eclipse™ Black Ales outside of attending a local festival, or even visiting us here in Sacramento…

With that being said, Mr. Scott Patterson wants to know where you shop for beer. Please send an email to Mr. Patterson at scott@hoppy.com and let him know where you would like to buy Hoppy. I know he would love to hear from you!!!

NOTE: As a bonus to those of you who actually read our newsletter, and got this far, during the month of December, just bring in the last sheet of this newsletter with the little coupon below, including your name/email address, you will get 25% off your meal!!! Coupon valid one per person per entree…
