Hoppy — Community Guidelines
Last Updated: 14 October 2026
It's nice to meet you.
Hoppy works best when everyone here is real, kind, and safe to talk to, making it a fun, respectful place for everyone. <3
These guidelines apply on Hoppy, on dates with people you met here, and at Hoppy events. If you see or experience a breach of these guardrails, report it in the app or email support@hoppy.com. Reports are confidential.
The short version
- Be the real you. Real name, real age, real photos, verified.
- Be kind. No harassment, no hate, no pressure.
- Only share what's yours. Don't post other people's messages, photos, or info.
- Nobody here should be asking you for money, nor should you solicit money.
- No nudity, no sexual content, and nothing involving anyone under 18.
- Keep it legal, and keep it safe, online and in person.
Everyone's welcome here
Hoppy is for every gender, every orientation, every body, and every version of you. Add your pronouns to your profile if you want to, and use the ones on theirs.
Don't:
- Ignore the pronouns on someone's profile, or intentionally misgender someone or use a name they don't go by.
- Fetishize people for their race, body, gender, or anything else about who they are.
- Body shame, including in your own profile. Lists of undesirable qualities aren’t welcome here.
- Ask someone to justify their identity, their body, or who they date.
It’s great you know what you want. Just say what you're into without putting anyone down.
Be a real person
We want to meet the real you, and so does everyone else. That means your profile is actually you, right now.
Don't:
- Lie about your name, age, gender, location.
- Mislead people about your relationship status. Whether you’re single, open, poly, or figuring it out, all are welcome here. Just be upfront about it.
- Use photos that aren't you, AI-generated photos, or edits and filters that change what you actually look like.
- Pretend to be someone else, including a public figure, a fictional character, a brand, or another user.
- Skip or cheat photo verification
- Make a second account.
- Pretend to be from Hoppy, including our team, Trust & Safety, or our ambassadors.
Totally fine: Good lighting, your best angle, the photo from that one wedding where your makeup and hair look perfect and/or that day on the boat you caught that huge fish.
Treat people with respect
Not every conversation turns into a date, and that's okay. How you handle it is what matters.
Don't:
- Threaten, bully, intimidate, degrade, or abuse anyone.
- Keep messaging someone who hasn't replied, has said no, or has unmatched or blocked you (including on other apps).
- Get others to pile on or harass someone.
- Use slurs, stereotypes, or hate speech targeting anyone based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious illness, or age.
- Celebrate or glorify hate crimes, genocide, or other violence against any group.
Having preferences about who you want to date is fine. Being cruel about people who don't fit them isn't.
Zero tolerance for sexual harassment
Sexual harassment includes but is not limited to:
- Sending sexual messages, photos, or videos that nobody asked for.
- Pressuring anyone to send explicit photos, have sex, or do anything they've said no to.
- Sexual comments about someone's body after they've made clear they aren't welcome.
- Threatening to share, or sharing, someone's intimate images.
- Unwanted touching or sexual behavior on a date or at a Hoppy event.
Consent on dates
Consent counts in person too. Saying yes to a date isn't saying yes to anything else. Anyone can change their mind at any point, and no, silence, or being too drunk to answer all mean no. Spiking someone's drink, or removing a condom without consent, is sexual violence. One confirmed instance, and you're permanently banned from Hoppy, and we'll cooperate with law enforcement.
Keep it safe and non-sexual
Hoppy is for meeting people, not for sexual content.
Don't:
- Post nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit photos, videos, or text.
- Offer, ask for, or advertise sex or sexual services, including links to paid adult content.
- Depict, promote, or joke about non-consensual sex or sexual abuse.
Totally fine: Swimsuit photos at the beach, flirting that both people are into.
Protect minors
Hoppy is for adults 18 and older. We have zero tolerance for any content or behavior that sexualizes minors or involves child sexual abuse or exploitation. We remove it, permanently ban the account, and report it to law enforcement.
Don't:
- Share any sexual or sexually suggestive content involving anyone under 18.
- Solicit, share, or distribute child sexual abuse material, or try to contact minors.
- Let anyone under 18 use your account, or use Hoppy if you're under 18.
If you think you've found someone under 18 on Hoppy, report their profile.
Photos with kids. Proud parent? Keep them off the app for now. We don’t allow any images of minors ever.
Only share what's yours
Your story is yours to tell. Other people aren't.
Don't:
- Post or share someone's messages, photos, profile, or personal info (inside or outside Hoppy) without their permission.
- Share someone's address, phone number, workplace, or other identifying details to expose or target them.
- Ask people for personal information so you can harass, exploit, or track them.
- Record or photograph someone on a date without their consent.
Nobody here should be asking you for money
Real people on dating apps don't need your bank details. If someone asks for money, gift cards, crypto, or an "investment," it's a scam. Report it.
Don't:
- Ask anyone for money, gifts, or financial information, for any reason.
- Promote investment schemes, crypto opportunities, or anything promising easy returns.
- Threaten to share someone's photos or messages unless they pay or do something (sextortion).
- Send spam or repetitive messages, or use bots or automation.
Hoppy will never ask for your password, your verification code, or payment details in a message. If someone says they're from Hoppy and asks for these details, it's a scam. Report it.
This isn't a marketplace
We support all your business endeavors, just not here. People came to meet you, not your business.
Don't:
- Advertise or sell products or services, or recruit for anything, including multi-level marketing.
- Use your profile to drive followers, subscribers, or traffic somewhere else.
No violence
Don't:
- Threaten, encourage, or glorify violence against anyone, or cruelty to animals.
- Share gore, graphic injury, real fights, or assaults.
- Support or promote violent extremists, terrorist organizations, hate groups, or criminal organizations.
- Post photos or videos using weapons.
Take care of each other
People sometimes connect over hard topics, including mental health. Talking about it is okay. Encouraging someone to hurt themselves is not.
Don't:
- Promote, encourage, or give instructions for self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
- Pressure anyone into dangerous behavior, including with drugs or alcohol.
If you or someone you're talking to is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (US). If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. You can also report a profile and let us know you're worried about someone.
Keep it legal
Don't:
- Buy, sell, or offer drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vapes, or weapons on Hoppy.
- Promote or show illegal drug use, or promote drinking to the point of harm.
- Use Hoppy for anything illegal, or to plan it.
Totally fine: a glass of wine in your photo, "let's get a drink" as a first date idea.
Stay safe when you meet
Most dates are fine. A few simple habits make them better:
- Use our safe date feature so we can support you IRL.
- Get to know someone on Hoppy before moving to another app or giving out your number.
- Meet somewhere public the first few times, and get yourself there and back.
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Trust your gut. You can leave anytime, for any reason, and you don't owe anyone an explanation.
- Report anything that feels wrong, even after the date. It helps us protect the next person.
What happens if someone breaks these guidelines?
Our Trust & Safety team reviews reports, and a person reviews them before any permanent ban. Depending on what happened, we may:
- Remove content.
- Send a warning.
- Temporarily restrict or suspend the account.
- Permanently ban the account and block the person from coming back.
- Report it to law enforcement where the law requires, or where someone's safety is at risk.
The first confirmed instance means a permanent ban for: anything sexualizing minors; sexual violence or coercion; threats of violence; sextortion; and making a new account after being banned.
Think we got it wrong? Email support@hoppy.com and a person on our team will review it, usually within 24 hours.
Reporting
Report a profile or message from inside the app, on the contact form, or email support@hoppy.com. The person you report won't be told who reported them. If you're in danger right now, call 911 first.
Reporting is safe. Harassing or retaliating against someone for reporting you breaks these rules, and so does knowingly making false reports to get someone banned.
Thanks for being here, and for being a real person. It's nice to meet you.
