How To Submit A Data Access Request To Hoppy

If you are a UK or EU citizen or resident, you have the rights set out below. You also have the right to the erasure of your data. To exercise your erasure rights, please consult hoppy.com/erasure-request.

If you are a California resident, please be advised that Hoppy does not meet currently the definition of a ‘Business’ under Cal. Civ. Code §1798.140(d)(1) and therefore is not subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA). Making a submission according to the procedure set out below will not guarantee you treatment under GDPR procedures as you do not qualify as a UK or EU data subject. Still, upon receipt of a request we may in our sole discretion accommodate all or part of your request, and in such case nothing in our response should be construed as a submission to the jurisdiction of the CCPA.

Data subject access requests: submission procedure

You have the right to access your personal data held by Hoppy. This includes:

  • The right to obtain confirmation that we process your personal data.
  • The right to receive certain information about the processing of your personal data.
  • The right to obtain a copy of the personal data we process.

You must confirm your email address prior to submitting your data subject access request

In order for us to respond to your request, we ask that you submit this request electronically via email to dpo@hoppy.com and authenticate your identity by confirming your email address to our Support team using the ‘Chat with Support’ function in the App.

You can confirm your email address two ways:

Method 1. Chat with Support

Step 1. Access the Chat with Support function (on both Android and iPhone):
Profile > Settings > Help > Chat with Support

Step 2. Once you have accessed the ‘Chat with Support’ function: Please confirm the email address you wish to communicate with us from and answer any follow-up questions our Support team may have concerning this request.

Method 2. Email us your SMS verification code

Step 1. Request an SMS verification code in the Hoppy app:
Log out of your Hoppy account > Open the Hoppy app, and enter the phone number associated with your Hoppy account > You will receive an SMS verification code

Step 2. Include the table below into your email with your signed Data Subject Access Request form:

Hoppy username[add your Hoppy username]
Associated phone number[this must be the phone number you used to sign up to Hoppy]
SMS verification code[add the SMS code you received]
Authorized email address[this should be the same email you are sending the message from]

Submit your Data Subject Access Request form

After taking the steps outlined above to confirm your email, please follow the instructions below and submit a Data Subject Access Request Form to us by email to dpo@hoppy.com.

A template Data Subject Access Request Form containing submission instructions is available for download at hoppy.com/dsar-form. Please complete this templated form and ensure you provide all of the information and supporting documents requested in it. Supporting documents should be provided as attachments to your email in PDF format. You must also sign the form. We expect to respond to your request within one month of receipt of a valid request.

In addition to exercising your access right, you have the right to:

  • Request correction or erasure of your personal data.
  • Restrict or object to certain types of data processing.
  • Make a complaint with the local data protection authority (in the UK this is the Information Commissioner, see www.ico.org.uk).
